Whether you’re a casual drinker or a super-fan of the suds, craft beer is undeniably an American staple when it comes to what we’re drinking. Each state is home to at least a few craft breweries, but a few stand above the rest in terms of total breweries.
To no surprise, the birthplace of the American craft brewing movement takes the lead when it comes to the number of breweries in each state. According to the Brewers Association, California has 518 craft breweries. According to the California Craft Brewers Association , craft breweries play an important role in the states economy.
The top four states that contain the most breweries all fall on the Western half of the country. The states that follow California’s number one spot are Washington, Colorado, and Oregon.
Despite Missouri’s higher population, they still house the fewest amount of breweries in the country, with a total of 8.
